theMEM is steeped in history and is a beautiful setting for your celebration with its original art deco features and beautifully refurbished suites, making it an entirely unique venue. It truly is one of the north east's best kept secrets. You will be amazed by what's inside.
theMEM has the capacity for 10 guests all the way up to 900, yes, 900!
theMEM is also the ideal setting for many other special occasions. The variety of spaces and the available facilities make theMEM the perfect location for balls, charity and sporting events, theatre and music. See the table below for details of the different rooms you can hire for your event.

theMEM offers a fabulous range of catering options, whether you are looking for day time and evening food, or just one or the other.
At theMEM, we like to cater for all, so if there is anything specific that you are looking for, please ask.
Set menus are available at varying price points, please ask for further details.
For all catering bookings, we kindly ask final numbers to be confirmed by no later than seven days prior to the event.
Silver service is available upon request for an additional fee, depending on size of party.

We hope you fall in love with theMEM and its charm. If you do, and you would like to book, it's easy to do so. Our booking policy, which applies to all formal functions including, but not limited to, balls, parties, music concerts and arranged events, is as follows:
Provisional Reservation
A provisional booking can be made and held for 14 days with no obligation. Unless the provisional reservation is confirmed within these 14 days, the date will no longer be held.
Confirm a Reservation
A provisional reservation must be confirmed within 14 days of the booking in writing, accompanied with a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total price. In addition, a completed and signed booking form must be submitted.
Reservation Balance
A pro forma invoice for the outstanding balance will be issued approximately 14 days prior to the reserved date. The balance must be paid no later than 7 days prior to the reserved date.
